Role Overview
The GIS Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain geospatial data pipelines and workflows for the utilities domain. This role involves working with large datasets, automating data processing, and ensuring seamless integration with Esri platforms, with FME knowledge as an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement data processing pipelines to transform raw geospatial data into actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts (ArcPy) for automating data processing and analysis.
- Perform geospatial data management, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Work with large utility datasets, ensuring data integrity and performance optimization.
- Publish and manage geoprocessing services (GP services) for enterprise GIS applications.
- Collaborate with GIS developers and analysts to integrate data workflows with Esri platforms (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Support spatial data migration efforts, including data conversion and integration with utility network models.
- Optimize database performance for spatial queries and large datasets in PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Leverage FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for data transformation, automation, and integration tasks.
- Generate on-demand reports and dashboards for stakeholders using processed data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in GIS data engineering, scripting, and automation.
- Strong expertise in Esri technologies, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Server.
- Extensive experience with Python scripting (ArcPy) for data processing and automation.
- Proficiency in handling large geospatial datasets and geoprocessing tools.
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle, including spatial extensions (PostGIS, ArcSDE).
- Familiarity with utility network models (Gas, Electric, Water, Telecom) is highly desirable.
- Must have exp of FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for data transformation and automation is an added advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
