Role Overview
Monoedge is looking for a Backend / Data Platform Engineer to build and maintain reliable, high-performance data ingestion and processing systems. The role focuses on production-grade data pipelines, PostgreSQL, backend services, and automated testing and CI/CD. The ideal candidate should treat data pipelines as production systems that need to remain reliable under real-world load, with strong observability, testing, and failure recovery.
Responsibilities
- Build and strengthen high-throughput data ingestion for large files, multiple formats, and external database sources.
- Design reliable asynchronous processing systems with retries, recovery, and restart-safe execution.
- Integrate enterprise databases, ERP/accounting systems, and cloud spreadsheets.
- Handle schema-on-read for heterogeneous data sources.
- Manage PostgreSQL database architecture, including schema design, migrations, indexing, and query performance.
- Ensure proper multi-tenant data isolation.
- Optimize processing pipelines for throughput and predictable memory usage.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end smoke tests.
- Establish strong engineering practices around testing, code review, and release quality.
Requirements
- Strong Python experience with real-world asynchronous programming.
- Experience with FastAPI or a comparable backend framework.
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge.
- Experience with SQLAlchemy or a similar ORM and migration tools.
- Experience building reliable data pipelines with backpressure, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and test automation.
- Ability to measure and optimize system behaviour under load.
