Software Engineer (L2) Email

Role Overview

Join the Twilio Platform Engineering team as a Software Engineer (L2) Email. This role is designed for an engineer building hands-on experience with highly available, large-scale distributed systems. You will help build and operate backend services at scale, working on dual-cloud infrastructure spanning Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, processing billions of emails during peak events.

Responsibilities

• Help design, build, and operate services and automations that support Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established testing standards including unit and integration testing.
• Support cloud configurations across AWS and Azure environments using Terraform.
• Maintain observability coverage, including metrics, alerts, and distributed tracing.
• Build awareness of clean architectural practices and flag technical debt or system issues.
• Actively seek feedback and mentorship from senior engineers and participate in sprint planning.

Requirements

• 1-2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Exposure to building or operating backend services using Kubernetes.
• Practical experience with, or strong desire to learn, AI-assisted development tools.
• Some exposure to GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD) and CI/CD.
