Software Engineer L2-Messaging API

Role Overview

Join the team as Twilio’s next Software Engineer (L2) - Messaging API. This position is needed to help the Comms Engineering team build and maintain the communications platform, used by thousands of customers worldwide to communicate through various channels. A successful candidate is passionate about designing, developing, deploying and operating software solutions at scale, a self-starter, embodying a growth mindset, and wants to help Twilio deliver the best user experience for next-generation communications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software
• Work with a small and collaborative team, whiteboarding ideas, building backend services and APIs
• Perform thorough and thoughtful code reviews to help maintain a high standard of code quality
• Support production operations, building, releasing and assisting with team on-call
• Craft clear and concise documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferable in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Experience with Go or Java
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation

Nice to Have

• Experience using NoSQL databases like DynamoDB
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, including containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Polyglot developer with the ability to work across multiple programming languages and frameworks as needed
• Experience with Temporal
