Role Overview
uEngage is a leading SaaS company empowering restaurants and food businesses with branded ordering apps and digital engagement solutions. We are looking for a passionate Backend Engineer to join our Platform Engineering Team to build and scale the backend services that power our products, designing robust APIs and developing cloud-native applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
- Build secure, reliable, and high-performance RESTful APIs.
- Develop cloud-native applications using AWS services.
- Design and implement solutions using event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing and deployments.
- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system stability and performance.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in backend software development.
- Strong programming experience in PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and understanding of backend development principles.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Experience working with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS, and API Gateway.
- Good understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous systems.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Amazon CloudWatch and Grafana.
- Experience with Docker and containerization.
- Exposure to microservices architecture.
- Understanding of application security, scalability, and performance optimization.
