Role Overview

As a Data Scientist – GenAI & AI Engineering within the Generative AI Centre of Expertise (GenAI CoE), you will work in a mid-level, hybrid role focused on improving products using Generative AI, machine learning, and automation. You will bridge the gap between experimentation and AI engineering, framing problems, designing experiments, and building GenAI systems from prototypes to production-ready components.

Responsibilities

• Work with product, engineering, and business teams to turn fuzzy ideas into clear problem statements and success metrics.
• Design and run experiments to evaluate GenAI systems, including baseline comparisons and error analysis.
• Refine GenAI solutions using modern development practices and AI-assisted coding tools.
• Communicate results, trade-offs, limitations, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Share insights with the team and dedicate time to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Experience working as a Data Scientist or in a similar role involving applied machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Comfort working with incomplete information and through exploration and experimentation.
• Ability to join up product, data, and engineering context to improve decisions.
• Experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical partners.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to software engineering practices such as version control, testing, or object-oriented programming.
• Understanding of how companies deploy AI systems via cloud services or containerised environments.
