Product Designer

Role Overview

Val-Ed Initiatives is an education-focused organization working with schools to create meaningful learning experiences through Values Education and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Product Designer to translate educational concepts into innovative physical products, installations, learning elements, and interactive experiences. The role involves taking concepts from idea to design, prototype, and final execution, working closely with Academic, Design, Infra, and Project teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop creative concepts for learning elements, installations, displays, furniture, and interactive products.
• Translate educational and experiential concepts into tangible physical products.
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, elevations, and technical drawings.
• Develop prototypes and mock-ups and work closely with fabricators, carpenters, and vendors.
• Understand and utilize materials such as wood, MDF, acrylic, metal, foam, fabric, and laminates.
• Participate in site visits to assess available spaces and adapt designs based on site constraints.
• Ensure products meet standards of quality, safety, durability, and functionality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Product Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Interior Design, or Architecture.
• A strong portfolio of physical products/design projects is mandatory.
• 2–5 years of experience in product or industrial design.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing, and fabrication processes.
• Understanding of ergonomics and child-friendly design.
