Design Engineer

Role Overview

Vikra Ocean Tech is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Design & Production Engineer with 1 to 2 years of professional industry experience to join our hardware team. You will play a crucial role in bringing our autonomous multi-domain platforms to life, moving beyond entry-level tasks to actively drive conceptualization, detailed CAD modeling, physical prototyping, and final assembly.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed 3D models, complex structural assemblies, and production-ready 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
• Drive the conceptualization and detailed design of rugged hardware, including structural frames, pressure housings, sensor mounts, and propulsion integrations.
• Conduct structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics simulations (FEA/CFD) on critical system components to validate designs for harsh environments.
• Manage aspects of the physical prototyping phase, including 3D printing, and collaborate with vendors for precision machining and sheet metal fabrication.
• Coordinate closely with electronics and software teams to ensure sensors, cameras, and PCBs fit securely inside watertight and weather-sealed enclosures.
• Generate and manage clear technical documentation, bills of materials (BOM), and comprehensive design reports.

Requirements

• B.E. or B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–2 years of professional industry experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Strong analytical problem-solving mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles and manufacturing processes.
