Role Overview
Vikra Ocean Tech Private Limited is a specialist subsea inspection and underwater robotics company. We are looking for a driven Design & Production Engineer to bridge the gap between concept and reality by designing mechanical systems for underwater and surface robotics platforms and overseeing their transition into physical production.
Responsibilities
- Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for ROV/USV components, including chassis, waterproof enclosures, and thruster mounts.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure efficient and cost-effective fabrication.
- Design sealing mechanisms such as O-ring grooves, gaskets, and potting enclosures for subsea operations.
- Create and manage comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) for robotic assemblies.
- Source mechanical components and collaborate with vendors for CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and GD&T requirements.
- Work hands-on with technicians to assemble prototypes and resolve assembly issues.
Requirements
- B.E. / B.Tech in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering.
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, or production engineering.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including milling, turning, and fabrication.
- Knowledge of marine-grade materials like Aluminum 6061/7075 and Stainless Steel 316.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience designing waterproof enclosures or working with IP67/IP68+ rated products.
- Experience with buoyancy calculations and subsea weight distribution.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques like custom molding or vacuum casting.
