Role Overview
We are looking for a Python Backend Developer to build secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems and RESTful APIs that power modern web applications and SaaS products. You will work closely with frontend developers, product teams, and other engineers to design reliable APIs, background processing systems, third-party integrations, and data-driven backend services.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF).
- Build APIs for integration with Next.js and React.js applications, collaborating on API contracts, versioning, validation, and error handling.
- Develop robust Python services, utilities, and automation scripts.
- Implement appropriate concurrency patterns using multithreading, multiprocessing, and asyncio where required.
- Design and implement authentication, authorization, request validation, rate limiting, and other API security best practices.
- Work with PostgreSQL/MySQL to design schemas, optimize queries, and improve database performance.
- Develop and manage background jobs and asynchronous processing using tools such as Celery and Redis.
- Integrate and work with third-party APIs and external services.
- Implement caching strategies and performance optimizations for high-traffic APIs.
- Build reliable backend workflows for data processing, reporting, automation, and application features.
- Ensure backend systems have appropriate logging, monitoring, error handling, and observability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards and engineering practices.
- Collaborate with frontend and product teams to understand requirements and deliver reliable backend solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to improving system reliability and scalability.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Hands-on experience with Django, including ORM, models, migrations, authentication, and application architecture.
- Practical experience with Django REST Framework, including Serializers, APIViews / ViewSets, Permissions, Authentication, Throttling, and Validation.
- Proven experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Good understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience with database schema design, query optimization, and ORM performance.
- Practical understanding of Python concurrency: multithreading, multiprocessing, and asyncio.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows.
- Understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.
- Good understanding of software development best practices, debugging, and code quality.
