Backend Developer Intern

Role Overview

Wexa.ai is looking for motivated Backend Developer Interns to join the Engineering team and work on CognoDB Cloud, our managed graph database platform. As a Backend Intern, you will gain hands-on experience building APIs and backend services that support data handling, cloud infrastructure, performance, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs for the CognoDB Cloud platform.
• Develop APIs for data handling and platform features.
• Work with SQL or NoSQL databases and integrate them with backend applications.
• Write efficient database queries and improve application performance.
• Implement features following clean coding and software development practices.
• Write unit tests and help maintain reliable, production-ready code.
• Debug issues and troubleshoot backend and API-related problems.
• Work with Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and other engineers.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python, Java, Node.js, Go, .NET, PHP, or Ruby.
• Basic understanding of REST API development.
• Hands-on experience with at least one database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
• Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.
