👋 About Us ZOOCO is building a wellness-first digital ecosystem for pets, bringing pet parents and pet professionals together to support every animal’s unique needs. We're an early-stage, bootstrapped startup with a live, tested product, and we're now scaling fast, focused on growing consultation bookings, traffic, and revenue. Our vision is to bring modern, thoughtful tools to the world of pet care making it proactive, personalised, and easy to manage. We’re a small, product-driven team that values ownership, execution, and real-world impact. To know more, visit www.zooco.pet
🛠 What You’ll Do
As our frontend developer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving our live apps, with a strong focus on UI craft. We're past the MVP stage and now optimizing every screen for conversion, trust, and ease of booking. Most of our day-to-day frontend work is interface-driven: building polished, responsive screens, refining interaction details, and translating product ideas into clean, usable UI that helps real pet parents book consultations faster and with more confidence. You’ll be part of a close-knit team where your work directly impacts the product and its growth. This isn’t a role where tasks are spoon-fed, you’ll be expected to understand how things work, take initiative, and figure out solutions collaboratively. You’ll be responsible for:
- Building and refining responsive, accessible, visually polished UIs across devices and screen sizes, with an eye on improving booking conversion and user trust
- Working with and improving production grade React and Next.js codebases
- Translating designs (and rough ideas) into pixel-accurate, production-ready interfaces
- Using AI tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, v0, etc.) to accelerate both coding and UI design/prototyping work
- Optimizing frontend performance, page load speed, and app scalability as our traffic grows
- Debugging, refactoring, and maintaining existing systems and workflows
- Collaborating with backend, product designers and founders to ship real features that move booking, traffic, and revenue metrics
- Preparing and packaging web apps for Android/iOS deployment
- Writing clean, maintainable code with a long-term mindset
- Continuously learning and applying modern frontend and UI/UX best practices
🎯 What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Good understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), React.js, Node.js and Next.js
- Strong fundamentals in HTML, CSS, and building responsive, detail-oriented UIs
- A genuine interest in UI/UX, you care about spacing, typography, micro-interactions, and visual consistency, not just functionality
- Comfortable using AI tools to speed up both development and design/prototyping work
- Familiarity with PWA architecture and modern frontend tooling
- Experience working with REST APIs and basic SQL knowledge
- Ability to work with existing codebases, debug independently, and improve performance
- Should have experience using Git and a basic understanding of version control workflows
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with Capacitor.js, Firebase, Socket.io, or Tailwind CSS
- Familiarity with Figma or other design tools, and comfort going from design files (or no files at all) to working UI
- Experience with AI-assisted design/prototyping tools (v0, Figma AI, Galileo, etc.)
- Experience working with SQL databases in frontend workflows (e.g., for queries or reporting)
- Exposure to mobile packaging (TWA or native wrappers)
- Exposure to basic analytics/conversion tracking (GA4, Mixpanel, or similar) — useful since you'll be iterating on UI that drives bookings
💡 Why Join Us
- You'll join at a pivotal growth stage, your UI decisions will directly influence real booking and revenue numbers, not just feature checklists
- You’ll own real features and impact real decisions from day one
- You’ll work with a founding team that values deep thinking, clean execution, and product impact
- You’ll grow fast, in skill, ownership, and how you think about solving real-world problems, both technically and visually
- You'll have room to experiment, improve, and build systems that scale. We work with focus, care, and trust - No micromanagement
- At this stage, your contributions will be visible, meaningful, and directly tied to our growth. You’ll see the impact of your work clearly
If you're someone who codes well but secretly (or not so secretly) loves obsessing over UI details, learns fast, takes initiative, and wants to help scale a real, live product, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out to us at hello@zooco.pet
