Software Development Engineer (Jira Data Center)

Role Overview

As a Software Development Engineer, you will build and support the Jira Data Center platform used by engineering, IT, and business organizations. This role involves writing custom apps and integrations, maintaining platform health at scale, and driving the migration to Atlassian Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom Jira Data Center apps, plugins, and scripted extensions using Java, Groovy, and the Atlassian SDK.
• Build integrations between Jira and tools like Confluence, ServiceNow, Slack, CI/CD pipelines, and SSO using REST APIs and webhooks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into custom workflows, schemes, permissions, and automation rules.
• Contribute to Jira Data Center to Cloud migration through app compatibility assessments and data mapping.
• Support platform operations including upgrades, patching, and performance tuning across AWS infrastructure.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of software development experience.
• Working proficiency in Java or a comparable object-oriented language.
• Solid SQL skills.
• Comfort with scripting languages such as Groovy, Python, or Bash.
• Experience consuming and building REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control and standard build tooling.
• Hands-on exposure to Jira or Confluence.
