Software Engineer 2 - Java (BYDS)

Role Overview

Responsible for independently delivering Java-based backend features and database integrations, while contributing to design, performance optimization, and continuous improvement efforts. An important part of the role involves writing Java server test cases as well as contributing to development work within a cloud-agnostic, microservices-oriented architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and frameworks such as Spring or Spring Boot.
• Write clean, efficient, and secure code while following coding standards and best practices.
• Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and transactions using relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Participate in system design discussions to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Review code, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior developers.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive fixes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Apply automated testing, CI/CD practices, and version control to ensure high-quality deliveries.

Requirements

• BE/ME or B Tech/M Tech in Computer Science, MCS, or MCA.
• 3-6 years of experience (specifically for Pune location).
• Extensive knowledge of the Java programming language and strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills.
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with relational databases (preferably Oracle) and Object/Relational frameworks like Hibernate.
• Ability to write SQL queries, procedures, triggers, and perform performance tuning.
• Functional knowledge of the supply chain management domain.
• Capability of building web interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with preference for ReactJS.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization is a plus.
