CHAOS is seeking Software Engineer Interns for Summer 2027! This is a paid, in-person, 12-week internship role. You'll write the firmware that runs on our sensor nodes and the software that keeps them synchronized with each other. This is real-time work under real constraints: timing, power, thermal, and radios that don't care about your abstractions.

What you might work on:

• Projects that will include building features to improve the developer experience for CHAOS engineers.
• Projects that would enhance the scalability & reliability of CHAOS platforms.
• Storage and Data Infrastructure.

What We Are Looking For:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other tech tools.
• Working proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, or JAX.
• Exposure to embedded development through coursework, personal projects, competition teams, or prior internships.
• Willingness to work on hardware.
• You’ve collaborated on the above two things as part of a group - school club, competition team, as part of a job/internship, or just with friends.
• In your application, we'd love to see either a sample of work you're proud of or a short note about your prior experience and how it relates to the three points above.
