Role Overview
Glydways seeks a System Test Engineer to build, operate, and improve Hardware-in-the-Loop capabilities for an integrated autonomous transit system. The role spans test engineering, embedded systems, controls, software, hardware interfaces, automation, and data analysis. Scope may range from strong mid-level contributor to staff-level technical leader; senior hires are expected to own larger test architectures, improve processes, mentor colleagues, and present evidence for readiness and release decisions.
Work includes hands-on testing with benches, controllers, networks, laboratory equipment, vehicles, and Glydways facilities. Some travel and on-site presence may be required for integration campaigns, environment bring-up, and major release demonstrations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute HIL test plans, procedures, and automated cases for integrated autonomous transit behavior.
- Build and maintain HIL benches, harnesses, simulated and real interfaces, network configurations, timing synchronization, data acquisition, and test-data management.
- Translate requirements, scenarios, safety needs, and regression risks into repeatable tests with clear pass/fail criteria.
- Expand automated regression coverage before vehicle or track testing.
- Execute and troubleshoot tests involving embedded controllers, vehicle subsystems, autonomy interfaces, communications, diagnostics, faults, and degraded modes.
- Analyze logs, telemetry, traces, dashboards, and observations; identify anomalies and support root-cause analysis.
- Track failures through classification, impact and regression assessment, fix verification, and closure.
- Improve automation, simulators, tooling, dashboards, data pipelines, reporting, execution speed, repeatability, and coverage.
- Prepare evidence for readiness reviews covering environment status, configurations, prerequisites, approved procedures, safety controls, and open issues.
Skills and Experience
- Experience designing HIL environments and test systems for complex, safety-relevant embedded products.
- Proficiency in test automation, regression testing, configuration and data management, fault handling, and technical troubleshooting.
- Ability to analyze test data and communicate evidence across autonomy, systems, safety, quality, operations, and deployment teams.
- Mid-level through staff-level experience; leadership scope scales with seniority.
