Founding Engineer (Full-Stack)

Role Overview

Harness is building the AI-native commercial insurance brokerage. We are building software to automate the entire brokerage funnel, breaking workflows into underlying decisions and tasks to build increasingly autonomous systems. We are looking for a Founding Engineer to build the core systems behind Harness, working directly with the founders to solve complex automation problems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build infrastructure, data models, APIs, workflow engines, agent systems, and integrations.
• Understand complex business workflows and identify bottlenecks for automation.
• Build software or AI systems that perform manual tasks reliably.
• Take systems all the way to the user, including building necessary interfaces.
• Measure the impact of shipped features on the business.
• Work in an environment without polished specifications, requiring deep problem-solving and autonomy.

Requirements

• Strong experience in backend and systems engineering.
• Ability to work across the stack (frontend and backend) as needed.
• Ability to work directly with founders in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
• Strong analytical skills to understand complex workflows before writing code.
