Job Description
Role Overview
NowVertical is seeking smart, diligent, and methodical Data Engineers with 2-4 years of hands-on experience. As a key member of our Technology Consulting team, you will help clients design and develop modern data and AI analytics solutions, transforming data into actionable insights that drive strategic growth and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Analyse business and functional requirements to design, build, and maintain reliable batch and real-time data pipelines and ingestion code.
- Acquire and integrate data from modern sources like cloud apps, mobile, social, and streaming feeds alongside traditional CRM sources.
- Build cloud-native ELT/ETL pipelines and Lakehouse solutions in collaboration with onshore and offshore teams.
- Apply data quality, testing, and observability practices to ensure pipelines are trustworthy and monitored.
- Prepare and serve clean, well-modelled data to power analytics, dashboards, and AI/ML/GenAI use cases.
- Work the DataOps way using version control, CI/CD, and code reviews.
Requirements
- Strong SQL skills for writing and optimizing complex queries.
- Strong programming ability in Python for production-grade data engineering.
- Hands-on experience with pipeline design (ETL vs ELT), data ingestion, and data modelling.
- Experience with cloud fundamentals on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Working experience with the modern data stack including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Proficiency with tools like dbt, Airflow, and Fivetran.
- Understanding of data lakehouse architectures and open table formats like Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of how data engineering supports AI/ML and GenAI (feature stores, vector databases).
- Mandatory ability to use AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
- Working knowledge of visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
