Software Development - Internship I Backend I Python/Django

Role Overview

Songdew is looking for a Backend Engineering Intern who is passionate about building scalable web applications and solving real-world engineering challenges. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with experienced developers and product managers to build and enhance core modules of Songdew’s technology platform. Successful interns may be offered a full-time Software Engineer position upon completion of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python and Django
• Design and build RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications
• Work with MySQL and MongoDB databases for application development and optimization
• Implement caching mechanisms and performance enhancements
• Participate in designing scalable and secure system architecture
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues
• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver features
• Participate in code reviews and engineering discussions

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Python
• Good understanding of Django Framework
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Familiarity with REST APIs
• Working knowledge of MySQL
• Understanding of MongoDB
• Familiarity with Git
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills
• At least one live project/website deployed (academic, freelance, personal, or internship project)
• B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines
• Final-year students, recent graduates, or candidates with up to 1 year of relevant experience
• Available for a minimum 6-month internship

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Redis, Memcached, or caching frameworks
• Knowledge of Docker
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to background jobs, queues, and distributed systems
• Experience with Linux environments
