Role Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer (Java) to design, build, and scale modern backend platforms, APIs, and microservices. In this role, you will develop Java-based APIs and Vaadin Apps and contribute to the development of AI agents and orchestration workflows using modern LLM tooling. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions that support enterprise platforms and business workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and services using Java (Spring, Vaadin), following the best practices.
- Build and manage RESTful APIs and frontend and backend components with strong focus on performance, security, and reliability.
- Develop system integrations and workflows across enterprise platforms using APIs and events.
- Contribute to CI/CD, Containerization, and DevOps practices to improve delivery speed and operational stability.
- Ensure code quality and production readiness through testing, reviews, documentation, and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and QA to deliver secure, high-quality solutions and mentor team members as needed.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong backend development focus.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, building production-grade backend services and APIs.
- Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices using Java.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture patterns, including Backend-for-Frontend (BFF), microservices and service-oriented design.
- Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, and SSO.
- Strong knowledge of relational database design and SQL (PostgreSQL or equivalent)
- Experience building and deploying applications in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD practices (Docker, pipelines, automated deployments).
- Proficiency with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and collaborative development.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, with an ownership mindset.
- Test-Driven Development and Unit Testing experience
- Experience working in distributed team environments using version control, code reviews, and standard DevOps practices
