Role Overview
PyjamaHR is an applicant tracking system used by 600+ paying companies to run their hiring. The engineering team is deliberately small and AI-native in practice, where engineers work inside agentic coding tools like Claude Code or Codex to solve real-world production problems with speed and verification.
Responsibilities
- Own tickets end to end: reproduce, fix, test, ship, and monitor in production.
- Perform production engineering on the ATS, including managing asynchronous task chains, email queues, and resume parsing.
- Develop and refine the AI interviewer, focusing on speech-to-text reliability and interview logic.
- Build and harden new surfaces like the candidate database and redesigned career pages.
- Work on billing rebuilds, including Razorpay subscriptions and UPI Autopay.
- Optimize infrastructure and database retention on AWS.
Requirements
- 0–5 years of professional experience (exceptional freshers welcome).
- Strong proficiency in Python; experience with Django, Celery, and Postgres is preferred.
- Comfortable with React; TypeScript is a plus.
- Genuinely AI-native: must have built something with AI that performs multi-step work (e.g., an agent, pipeline, or automation).
- Strong verification habits: writing tests, reading diffs, and checking production data.
- Clear communication skills for explaining bugs and writing detailed pull request descriptions.
