Role Overview
Altior Studios is building a 2-wheel differential drive Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) designed for complex and dynamic indoor environments. We are looking for an intern to help us tune and stress-test our Visual SLAM (VSLAM) and spatial awareness stack using NVIDIA Isaac ROS, all of which will be deployed over NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and fine-tune Altior’s proprietary Visual SLAM on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano platform
- Calibrate stereo vision/depth camera and IMU sensor setups to improve visual odometry accuracy
- Fuse visual odometry with wheel encoders using localization tools and/or EKF filters
- Integrate Altior’s VSLAM outputs into the ROS 2 Nav2 framework for real-time costmap generation and local planning
- Build containerized deployment environments (Docker/JetPack) to optimize GPU/CPU execution latency
- Deploy, test and validate loop-closure and relocalization accuracy under real-world lighting and dynamic conditions
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with ROS 2 (Humble or newer) and working knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu
- Proficiency with Visual SLAM (VSLAM) principles, camera calibration, and sensor fusion
- Familiarity with the NVIDIA Jetson ecosystem (JetPack, CUDA runtime, and Isaac ROS packages)
- Solid understanding of differential drive robot kinematics and its physics based navigation principles
- Proficiency in Python 3 or C++ for ROS 2 node development
- Engineering Bachelors in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or any other streams relevant to robotics
- 1+ years of work experience
