Backend / Integration Engineer

Role Overview

The Backend / Integration Engineer will develop scalable backend services and reliable integrations connecting the organization with external businesses, ERP/accounting, communication, and third-party systems. The ideal candidate will have experience building production SaaS products, preferably in AR, collections, fintech, ERP, or AI automation, and be comfortable working in an early-stage/startup environment. The candidate must demonstrate strong ownership, the ability to build features end-to-end, and good testing, documentation, and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases.
• Develop business logic and integration services.
• Build background processing services.
• Integrate REST and SOAP APIs.
• Implement OAuth and authentication mechanisms.
• Develop and manage webhooks.
• Implement API security and handle API rate limits.
• Integrate ERP and accounting platforms, mapping data between different systems.
• Build synchronization mechanisms and reconciliation processes.
• Integrate email, WhatsApp, and telephony platforms.
• Implement retry mechanisms, dead-letter/error queues, and integration monitoring.
• Document API specifications, integration mapping, and technical runbooks.

Requirements

• 4–7+ years of backend/integration development experience.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Hands-on REST/SOAP integration experience.
• Experience integrating ERP/accounting systems.
• Experience with communication APIs.
• Experience handling production integration failures.
