Software Development Engineer II

Role Overview

At Expedia Group, we help travelers explore the world, one journey at a time. As a global travel company powered by passionate people, trusted partnerships, and leading technology, we connect travelers, partners, and advertisers through our consumer brands, B2B network, and travel advertising business. The Checkout team owns the booking experience across Expedia Group brands — the web checkout UI, the API layer that powers it, and the conversion funnel that every trip flows through.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality user interface software that delivers reliable, accessible, and intuitive customer experiences.
• Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions using modern frontend technologies, applying sound software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to low-level system design, API design, data modeling, and technical decisions that support maintainable and resilient applications.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, design, and other technical domains to deliver outcomes and apply your expertise flexibly across multiple problem spaces.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve product and engineering outcomes, applying foundational AI/ML concepts to real-world products and workflows.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to strengthen software quality, performance, security, and operational reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience, including building and maintaining user interface applications.
• Experience owning features or components within a service or application, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and support.
• Proficiency with frontend software development, API integration, data modeling, version control, automated testing, and debugging.
• Familiarity with low-level system design and developing maintainable, reliable, and secure software solutions.
