Role Overview
Ferri AI is seeking motivated Backend Developer Interns to join its team. This unpaid internship offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in contributing to social impact projects through technical development. As a Backend Developer Intern, you will be responsible for building the core database and API infrastructure that powers the platform’s essential features such as animal profiles, medical records, and the request-assignment system for rescue operations. This role is foundational to the development of the entire product, providing a unique chance to shape the architecture and technology stack from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Designing and constructing a scalable database schema tailored for a location-based public welfare application
- Developing RESTful APIs to enable core functionalities such as animal profile management, medical record updates, and rescue request submissions
- Implementing location-based matching logic to connect users with the nearest rescue services efficiently
- Writing clear and concise documentation for each module and API developed to ensure maintainability and future scalability
- Participating in regular meetings with the founder to discuss progress, set priorities, and align on project goals
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Node.js, Django, or Flask frameworks
- Basic experience with SQL databases or NoSQL options such as Firebase or Firestore
- Understanding of REST API design principles
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
