Founding Engineer (Full-Stack)

Role Overview

Harness is building the AI-native commercial insurance brokerage, automating the entire brokerage funnel from lead to binding. As a Founding Engineer (Full-Stack), you will work directly with the founders to build the core systems, infrastructure, and AI-driven automations that define how the company operates. This is a high-impact role where you will solve complex problems involving workflow engines, agent systems, and data extraction.

Responsibilities

• Design and build workflow engines to coordinate long-running insurance processes.
• Develop AI agents that determine necessary actions on insurance accounts.
• Create systems for extracting structured data from documents and conversations.
• Build infrastructure for carrier appetite, market selection, and integrations with third-party providers.
• Develop evaluation and observability infrastructure for production AI agents.
• Design and implement both backend systems and the product surfaces/interfaces required to make them usable.
• Study manual workflows, identify bottlenecks, and design automated solutions.

Requirements

• Experience building robust backend systems, APIs, and data models.
• Ability to work in an ambiguous environment without polished specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on understanding the underlying business workflow.
• Comfortable working across the full stack, including building user interfaces when necessary.
• Interest in building autonomous systems and AI-driven automation.
