Associate Software Engineer (SDE-1)

Role Overview

We are looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team at SolarWinds. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, a learning mindset, and the ability to deliver well-scoped work with guidance in a collaborative environment. The team is responsible for building and improving foundational software capabilities that support reliable, scalable, and secure product development across SolarWinds.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software components and services.
• Write clean, maintainable, production-quality code with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve code quality and consistency.
• Create and maintain unit tests and automated tests to support reliable releases.
• Troubleshoot defects and assist with resolving product and production issues.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver sprint commitments.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of software engineering experience through full-time work, internships, or academic projects.
• Strong foundation in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Go, or Python.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
• Familiarity with version control, debugging, testing practices, and modern development workflows.
• Basic knowledge of APIs, databases, and software development lifecycle concepts.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply feedback effectively.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
