Software Engineer

Role Overview

Software Engineers at Visa conduct, plan, or oversee one or more aspects of the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of computer programs for commercial or end user applications. You will write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications, while also completing documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

• Write, modify, and review high-quality, testable, and efficient code across front-end, back-end, and data layers.
• Integrate systems via APIs, messaging queues, and databases.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and large-scale data processing jobs using appropriate frameworks and cloud services.
• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests with a strong focus on automation.
• Maintain CI pipelines to run tests automatically upon code commits.
• Debug and perform root cause analysis on issues, using AI-driven tools where applicable.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines; package and deploy applications using containerization and orchestration tools.
• Monitor applications in production using observability tools.
• Optimize code for performance, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
• Apply secure coding practices and ensure robust authentication/authorization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, OR 1+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in developing and/or implementing web-based or mobile applications.
• Experience in writing, modifying, and reviewing code for commercial or end user applications.
• Experience in debugging and performing root cause analysis on software issues.
• Experience in developing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Experience in integrating systems via APIs, messaging queues, and databases.
• Experience in maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deploying applications.
• Experience in applying secure coding practices and complying with regulatory standards.
• Technical experience with JAVA, Spring, and Hibernate.
• Experience with GIT, Maven, and Jenkins.
• Experience in API Development using SOAP or REST, JSON, and XML.
• Experience with SQL datastores like DB2 or MySQL, and Unix or Linux platforms.
• Experience with streaming platforms like Kafka.
• Experience with NoSQL datastores like MongoDB, Docker, and Kubernetes.
