Platform Engineer- Android

Role Overview

DrishtiNova is building its Android TV and Fire TV OTT applications in-house as part of the Saganova platform. This role will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality TV experiences, working closely with Backend Engineering, Product, QA and Technical Program Management to deliver a scalable streaming platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop Android TV and Fire TV applications using Kotlin.
• Implement media playback using Media3 / ExoPlayer.
• Integrate HLS, DASH and DRM-protected streaming.
• Develop TV-specific UI with proper D-Pad navigation and focus management.
• Integrate backend REST APIs.
• Implement authentication and device activation workflows.
• Optimise application performance and memory usage.
• Debug playback, networking and device-specific issues.
• Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews.
• Collaborate with QA during feature validation.
• Maintain technical documentation.
• Follow Git workflows and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Kotlin and Android SDK.
• Experience with Android TV and Fire TV development.
• Knowledge of Jetpack Compose and AndroidX.
• Familiarity with Media3, ExoPlayer, HLS, and MPEG-DASH.
• Understanding of Widevine DRM and OTT/video streaming.
• Experience with Retrofit, OkHttp, and Coroutines.
• Strong understanding of MVVM and Clean Architecture.
• Proficiency with Git, Android Studio, and ADB debugging.
